Luscious Life
As I grow older, I realize that my life can be easily sustained without luxury. I would like to relish the things that I often don’t pay much attention to.
Cherry harvesting is a summer routine that I take on for my family, guests, friends, and myself. It’s a time of appreciation for the seeds my parents planted and the fruits produced from their labor.
Sometimes, we all need a reminder to fully appreciate the hidden things in life, the things that go unnoticed.
In doing so recently, I’ve realized that these things aren’t uncommon despite being “hidden.” They occur every single day around us.
The care that occurs in the cup of tea or coffee a loved one makes, the contentment in feeling the aftertaste of cherries on your lips, the feeling that is in windswept hair and sun-kissed skin, or the giddiness of seeing a cat or dog on the street trotting towards you.
Maybe it’s the excitement of remembering a good series of dreams, the epiphany of understanding a subject, the adrenaline from hearing a good song you forgot about, or the tired satisfaction of a full day.
Maybe luxury does appeal to me, just in the form of unnoticed gestures and everyday experiences I’ve never tried to care for until now.
